全国のプラネタリウムで、星座や神話、宇宙を題材とした数多くの作品を制作し、シナリオから演出まで幅広く手がける。
2011年の東日本大震災を契機に映画制作へと活動を広げ、ドキュメンタリーでは「身体と魂」をテーマに創作を続けている。短編作品は札幌国際短編映画祭をはじめ、アメリカ、イギリス、スペインなど海外の映画祭でも上映された。

写真家としては、和紙にプリントした作品シリーズを展開。2021年よりロシアを含む美術館を巡回（グループ展）し、日本の素材と表現の可能性を世界へと広げる試みを続けている。また、和紙の原料から自ら栽培を行うなど、素材表現の根源にまで遡る制作を実践している。

Katsuyuki Miyabe has produced numerous planetarium programs across Japan, exploring themes of constellations, mythology, and the universe, handling everything from scriptwriting to direction.
In the wake of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, he expanded his career into filmmaking. His documentaries, centered on the themes of “body and soul,” have been screened at the Sapporo International Short Film Festival as well as at film festivals in the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, and beyond.

As a photographer, Miyabe creates a distinctive series of works printed on traditional Japanese washi paper. Since 2021, his works have toured museums in Russia and other countries, introducing the potential of Japanese materials and aesthetics to audiences worldwide. He also cultivates the raw materials of washi himself, embodying a creative practice that reconnects art with its natural origins.
